To determine the amount of the increase, roll 1d8 (or 5) and add its Constitution modifier. Whenever the mabari gains a level, it gains one Hit Die, and its hit point maximum increases.

The mabari can only gain levels in the War Dog class.

Whenever its partner gains a level, the mabari also gains a level, regardless of how much or how little it has participated in its partner’s adventures.

The mabari doesn't gain any starting equipment.
